7.0 km out-and-back walk between Castiglione di Garfagnana and Frassinoro, up to San Pellegrino in Alpe, 277 m of total ascent: about 2 h 15 min of walking. Waymarked hiking trail, between 1434 and 1524 m above sea level. After the walk: lunch at Il Nonno Cianco in Abetone Cutigliano (19.8 km).
Waymarked hiking trail (grade E): paths and dirt roads, good walking shoes are enough.

From Lucca: about 1 h (39 km as the crow flies). Most trailheads have roadside parking or a small car park in the nearest village.
By train and bus
