Bagnaria to Grotte di San Ponzo

The walk

7.3 km out-and-back walk between Ponte Nizza and Bagnaria, up to Grotte di San Ponzo, 419 m of total ascent: about 2 h 45 min of walking. Waymarked hiking trail. Along the way: Chiesa di San Bartolomeo Apostolo. After the walk: wine tasting at Poggio Paolo di Matteo Poggio (4.0 km) and lunch at Buscone in Varzi (8.6 km). Reachable by train: Bagnaria station, 196 m from the trail.

Waymarked hiking trail (grade E): paths and dirt roads, good walking shoes are enough.

How to get there

Country buses run less often on Sundays and holidays, and some not at all: check the return journey before you set off.
