The walk
5.5 km out-and-back walk near Comune di Duino Aurisina, up to San Giovanni di Duino / Štivan, 160 m of total ascent: about 1 h 45 min of walking. Waymarked CAI hiking trail. Along the way: Mitreo di Duino, Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista and Chiesa di San Giovanni in Tuba. After the walk: wine tasting at Bajta Salež (9.6 km) and lunch at Devetak in Savogna d’Isonzo (10.9 km).
Waymarked hiking trail (grade E): paths and dirt roads, good walking shoes are enough.

From Trieste: about 25 min (18 km as the crow flies). Most trailheads have roadside parking or a small car park in the nearest village.
By train and bus
