The walk
4.9 km out-and-back walk between Picerno and Ruoti, up to Lago Romito, 175 m of total ascent: about 1 h 30 min of walking. Waymarked hiking trail, between 1158 and 1265 m above sea level. After the walk: lunch at Gagliardi in Avigliano (7.3 km).
Waymarked hiking trail (grade E): paths and dirt roads, good walking shoes are enough.

From Potenza: about 15 min (9 km as the crow flies). Most trailheads have roadside parking or a small car park in the nearest village.
By train and bus
