Language and statistics
On the home page we suggest a language using the country estimated by Cloudflare from your connection, with browser language as a fallback. Explicit language links are respected. If you choose a language, the first-party cookie hf_language stores only that preference for 90 days; deleting it resets the preference. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, including for EU visitors, to measure visits, page views and performance without analytics cookies or localStorage. The analytics script sends these measurements to Cloudflare. Cloudflare Web Analytics.
A separate first-party counter records the entry domain (.com, .it or www.it) and aggregate totals in Cloudflare D1, without analytics cookies or browser storage. A random per-page identifier prevents duplicate retries and expires from the retry ledger after seven days; expired receipts are removed gradually when new visits arrive. Aggregates are retained. We do not store IP addresses, full URLs or browser details in this counter. Reloads, internal navigation and Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control requests are excluded. Counts start at activation and do not identify unique people.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes technical data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and protect the site, as our data processor.
Maps
Map tiles are loaded through our own server, which fetches them from OpenTopoMap and keeps a copy. Your browser never connects to OpenTopoMap directly, so your IP address is not shared with them.
Location search
“Near me” requests location only when you select it and allow the browser prompt. Coordinates are rounded to three decimal places and sent to this site in the search URL. They may remain in browser history and hosting logs; sharing that URL also shares the rounded location. No location is written to browser storage.
Fonts and photos
Fonts and photos are served from our own domain.
External links
Links to Google Maps, Wikipedia and winery websites open those services only when you click them; their own privacy policies apply.
